To conserve cash and hasten its production, Rivian paused construction of a plant in Georgia last year and decided to start building R2 SUVs in Illinois.

Construction on the 1.2 million-square-foot supplier park is underway and expected to be completed in 2026, in time for the launch of the much-anticipated Rivian R2.

Rivian is building a $120 million supplier park near its headquarters in Normal, Illinois, with the help of $16 million in state funds, to bolster supply chains and manufacturing for EVs.
