The NHL has punished the main combatants in a bench-clearing altercation in Friday night’s playoff game between the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals.

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson’s attempt to mock the Montreal Canadiens with a fake crying face quickly became the defining image of Game 3. After the final result, with the Habs beating the Capitals 6-3 on Friday, it's fair to say the meme-worthy gesture became viral for all the wrong reasons as the Canadiens got the last laugh.
