Greenock Light Opera Club has unveiled the cast list for its much-anticipated production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

He was joined by a cast of fellow child actors to play the other competition winners Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teevee and Violet Beauregarde.

Roald Dahl was a master of this, creating names from combinations of sounds that instantly offer a sense of their character such as Miss Trunchbull, Veruca Salt, Arthur Slugworth and Augustus Gloop.
