An American Airlines flight from Boston aborted its landing in Washington, D.C. Tuesday to avoid another plane.

The incident happened less than two hours before a similar event at Chicago's Midway Airport amid a spate of aviation disasters in North America.

The Federal Aviation Administration says an American Airlines plane arriving at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport discontinued its landing, performing a go-around to avoid getting too close to another aircraft departing from the same runway.
