A tsunami warning has been issued for Hawaii, where waves set off by an 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Russia’s remote Far East are expected to arrive after 7 p.m. local time.

Tsunami waves reached Hawaii and the West Coast after one of the strongest earthquakes in recorded history, a magnitude 8.8 temblor, struck off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on July 29 before most of the warnings were downgraded hours later.

A tsunami advisory was downgraded to a watch and then completely canceled for the Southern California coast after a massive earthquake struck off the coast of Russia.
