A federal judge on Thursday blocked President Donald Trump's administration from forcing 20 Democratic-led states to cooperate with immigration enforcement in order to receive billions of dollars in transportation grant funding.

A federal judge in Rhode Island blocked the Trump administration from using states’ cooperation with immigration efforts as a condition for receiving transportation funds.

Twenty states sued after they said Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy threatened to cut off funding to states that refused to comply with President Trump’s immigration agenda.
