Amid this week's layoff bloodbath, Microsoft has insisted every game shown at its Xbox showcase in June is safe. But what were the no-shows, and should we be worried about them? IGN runs through the list.

An Xbox spokesperson declined to confirm how many people were impacted, but the cuts were widespread and significant. Subsidiaries across the gaming organization were told that they would be affected by the layoffs.

Microsoft's cull of 9,000 jobs has led to various cancelled projects, and one of them has been described as a 'slam dunk' for Xbox.

Rare's fantasy title Everwild has also been cancelled. Although announced in 2019, the game had a troubled development history, reportedly restarting from scratch in 2021 and being in development for approximately 10 years. Rare itself will not be closed.

Xbox's Perfect Dark reboot, first announced in 2022, has been canceled. Its developer, The Initiative, is also shutting down, Microsoft has confirmed.

While it was known before this that Xbox layoffs were coming this week, what wasn’t known was their scope. It’s not just that jobs that have been cut, but a number of high-profile projects, and others that might have been great if they were not killed early on like this.
