Montego Bay High School was established in 1935 by the Government of Jamaica as the first Government owned high school for girls on the island.

The Montego Bay High School for Girls was established in 1935 by the Government of Jamaica because the parish of St. James had no high school for girls. It was, therefore, the first Government owned high school for girls to be established on the island. (Cornwall College was the first for boys).

Montego Bay High School is not only one of the two all-girls secondary school in Montego Bay, it is THE high school of Montego Bay - and St. James, in general, boasting some of the best CXC/CSEC exam results both in St. James & Jamaica!

Dec 17, 2020 · Several past students of the Montego Bay High School for Girls, now all grown women, continue to hold great pride in their sisterly bond with each other and their alma mater, a feeling they got to indulge in over the weekend at the school’s 85th anniversary celebration.

Jun 20, 2016 · Montego Bay High School for Girls (MBHS) in St James topped the latest rankings of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) put out by think tank Educate Jamaica. The school is a new entrant in the rankings, having only restarted its sixth-form programme in 2014.

The Montego Bay High School for Girls was established in 1935 as The Beaconsfield School. Its role was to fill a need that existed for the education of girls of high-school age in Montego Bay and the wider Saint James community.

Montego Bay High for Girls, Kimberly Simms, was awarded the prize for overall ‘Best Speaker’ and was also presented with the Spirit of the Competition Award.
