Nov 7, 2005 · For those who are coming from a 1st gen or 1st gen + Ryzen processor, this is a great deal. For anyone else, it is a waste of money, insofar as gaming goes. You have a 5700X so stick with that. To be straight forward, I went from a 3700X to a 5900X back in 2022 and to be honest, I did not really see any gaming difference.

5900x and 5950x out of stock on newegg faster than I could
Yep I'm in MST I had time to get the 5900x in my cart get to shipping and it failed but checked the 5600x and 5800x and they were in stock for a solid 3-5 mins. Newegg had said they had very limited stock of the 5900x so overall seems like a normal ryzen launch. The higher core chips sold out instantly, the mid range went out shortly after.

The 5900X is very well capable of hitting 80+ during stress tests and overclocked using PBO despite using curve optimizer. I have one on an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 in a 4000D Airflow case and during stress tests (Aida64 or Prime 95 Small FFT), it easily tops out at 82C. In normal day to day use or during gaming, it usually below 70C.
